Review of Quintax – Perspectus EP

Quintax is a side project of the much loved Styller aka Branislav Klinko who hails from Slovakia.

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/c…

The first official Quintax production was the excellent remix of Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic’s “Twilight” which was released in August. The mix was appropriately titled Quintax’s “Atmospheric Air” Remix becasue of it’s very airy and wispy sounding atmospheric elements. A truly great sound on that remix. His new single “Perspectus” for Mistique Music is of the same quality, a very tech-trance atmospheric vibe on the original, the galloping style beats really give the track alot of groove and the atmosphere has a lot of character with it’s ultra grainy feel. Absolute no cheese here at all, this is proper atmospheric, soulful trance music. You won’t here many tracks that fit this description nowadays. Well done!

The remixes are supplied by Mistique regulars Domased Electronica and Timewave. The Domased Electronica mix adds a slightly rougher and grungier edge to the bottom end and the melodic keys are a bit more prominent in this mix which does offer a nice variation on the already great Original Mix. The Timewave mix closes the package out and it’s got that signature Timewave sound that we all know and love, the squelchy, epic synth lines that give Timewaves productions so much energy are certainly there along with a big meaty bassline. Overall it has a slightly deeper vibe than some of his previous productions which is a nice change and shows some diversity. Overall this is a great package and it really is what proper trance music should sound like. If anyone remembers some of the old Planisphere productions the original mix here is of that quality.

Quintax – Perspectus (inc. Domased Electronica, Timewave) (Mistiquemusic) [MIST079]

Release date: September 7th, 2010
Progressive/Progressive

Original Mix
Quintax’s Original version here has that classic Mistiquemusic sound. Combining the deep, atmopspheric progressive with something that’s very very trancey. A deep, dark pounding beat works exceptionally well with the lush, dreamy melodic patterns.

Domased Electronica Remix
With the deep, pounding rawness of the original, Domased Electronica must have been itching to get on remix duties for this. He did. In massive style! Giving that bassline and beat a more massive sound (if that were possible), this remix will have the dance floor shaking in no time!!

Timewave Remix
Although Timewave is one of the latest additions to the Mistique ‘Exclusive Artists’ roster, it certainly feels as though he’s been part of the label for a long time. He has captured the hearts of many progressive lovers worldwide with his deep, progressive trance blend, and with Perspectus, he delivers once again. Lightening the mood somewhat, he uses his familiar trance like sound along with some dreamy, sumptuous harmonies.

Review of Affective – Broken Mood EP

The ‘Broken Mood’ EP by Affective kicks off what is about to be a very hectic few months for Mistique Music.

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/c…

With a release scheduled every 2 days for the month of September and October things are really heating up at Mistique headquarters! Affective’s ‘Broken Mood’ original has been floating around for a while now, appearing in some Eryo sets from as far back as April. It’s an amazing melodic progressive breaks track with lots of textures and atmosphere that all blend together very well. The tracks lead is a very effective guitar line that really adds to the soulful nature of the tune overall. There are also some very big mixes on the package from some of Mistique’s finest, Domased Electronica, The Stain and Kay-D all offer interpretations here. Being one Mistique`s premier artists Ladislav Zajic otherwise known as Domased Elecronica does what he does best here. Those trademark Slovakian stomping beats really give the track huge punch and great dancefloor sesnibility, coupled with lots of wispy atmospheres and subtle melodic touches we have another amazing remix from Domased Electronica. Next up The Stain takes things in a deeper vein and it has turned out brilliantly. Sultry deep grooves with great rhythms and a cool atmosphere make this one perfect for many dancefloors out there. Closing out the package is another legendary Mistique producer Kay-D. Kajdi Krisztián otherwise know as Kay-D has produced another amazing interpretation here. Bouncy beats, sultry female vocal pads, very soulful melodic lines, a classy sounding piano section and a truly memorable breakdown that is beautifully emotive. Amazing stuff from Kay-D and a great release from Mistique.

Domased Electronica Remix
First up on remix duties is this man from Slovakia. Ladislav Zajic is pretty much part of the furniture here at Mistique, appearing on nearly 20 of Mistique’s releases so far. Here he delivers his trademark pounding rhythm with lots of melodic touches throughout the entire track.

Review of Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic – Drive Me Crazy EP

The underground progressive community eagarly awaits for each upcoming Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic production and with good reason, each package this trio releases is always full of the most in demand remixers and the coolest up and comers as well.

The original mix is 11 minutes of swirling, atmospheric bliss. Laced with great vocal elements and that cool deep progressive feel this is certainly one of the best productions yet from Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic. The track is just so smooth and it flows so well that you feel like you could listen to it on repeat for an hour and not get bored at all. Amazing!

The remixes provided here are quite varied which is really nice. Much deeper interpretations from Chloe Harris, Blue Room Project and Deep Fog will make sure the release finds its way into not just just a typical progressive lovers set but lots of DJs with varied tastes. The Blue Room Project mix has been receiving play from Derek Howell who opened his recent MasterLux show set with it and recent Chloe Harris productions have been receiving support from Sasha and Hernan Cattaneo so expect more of the same here. The big mixes on the package are provided by: Domased Electronica, Loquai and Hypnotic Duo. Domased Electronica keeps the vibe deep on his interpretation and the overall atmospheric feel is maintained as well but the beats are a tad tougher than the original which may suit a primetime dancefloor abit better but it’s a toss up really because both are great tracks. Loquai provides his trademark thick and groove laden basslines for a really cool mix that does not disappoint and Hypnotic Duo keep their rework aimed squarely at the dancefloor with a progressive groove to die for. Another fine original production for Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic with a great set of remixes but ultimately the original is the real gem on this package for us!

Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic – Drive Me Crazy E.P.

The label bosses are back with their own E.P. with a remix package to die for!

Original Mix
The guys’ original kicks off our mammoth E.P. in style. After a dark, deep opening few minutes, we are thrust into a swell of big beats and some lush, filmic harmonies. The break is a lovely, dreamy couple of minutes, with a deep female vocal uttering the words “you drive me crazy” which sounds extremely good!

Domased Electronica Remix
Since the start of Mistique’s existence, there hasn’t been one Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic track that hasn’t been remixed by Domased Electronica, and this E.P. is no exception. Delivering his trademark deep style, Ladislav Zajic turns this into an epic tune. The elements of the original are all present, as you would expect, but he has put more emphasis on the beat and the bass which truly make this track a stomper.

Deep Fog Remix
An exclusive artist to Mistiquemusic, Deep Fog, from Poland delivers a more subtle, laid back approach. He must have had one eye on the summer months when remixing this because he seems to have captured the summer mood perfectly here. Lovely guitar played melodies.

Loquai Remix
Russian producer Loquai (Konstantin Alt) is back on remix duties once again and he delivers a tremendous transformation of the original. Awesome work with the harmonies as well as a delightful twist on the melody, this would work well in any sunset party over the summer

Hypnotic Duo Remix
The boys from Lithuania are back! Dziastinas and Marius turn in a real groover here. A deep punchy bassline rumbles along throughout the track, and the main melodic riff is out of this world! The breakdown is superb, a true spine tingling moment!

Chloe Harris Remix
Chloe Harris’s star is rising. And fast. Turning in a remix for Namatjira earlier this year, she is back on Mistique with another dark, groovy remix! Chloe’s remix this time round has her trademark pounding sound which takes us as far away from the original than you could possibly imagine. Would work well at the beginning, in the middle or at the end of a set, because of the uniqueness of the track.

Blue Room Project Remix
New York duo Shane Ehlers and Jeff Belfi are last up on remix duties here. They provide us with probably the most simplest of remixes you’ve ever heard! A simpe kick drum alone with some haunting harmonies make this remix a very listenable experience without being too over the top.

Tracks on this release:

01. Drive Me Crazy (Original Mix)
02. Drive Me Crazy (Domased Electronica Remix)
03. Drive Me Crazy (Deep Fog Remix)
04. Drive Me Crazy (LoQuai Remix)
05. Drive Me Crazy (Hypnotic Duo Remix)
06. Drive Me Crazy (Chloe Harris Remix)

Domased Electronica remixed Kay-D – My Dreams

Kay-D – My Dreams (incl. Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic, Domased Electronica, Dark Soul Project, Robert K) (Mistiquemusic) [MIST062]
Release Date: July 1st, 2010

Progressive/Progressive

Original Mix
Mistique’s favourite Hungarian adds to his huge list of tracks with the label with this deep, atmospheric Original. In true Kay-D fashion, he combines a real dark bassline with very heavenly melodies and a familiar female vocal cut where the lyrics are quite indecipherable.

Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic Remix
Label head honchos are on remix duties again, and here they have delivered a stomping take on the original. All the elements of the original are present in this remix, but M&L and SR have taken us that little bit further down the rabbit hole with this remix.

Domased Electronica Remix
When I first heard this remix, I had to double check whether it was Domased Electronica working this one. Has a bit of a different flavour to his previous remixes this year, he usually has a very distinctive style but this seems to be a completely new direction for DE and he makes it sound so very, very good!

Dark Soul Project Remix
Argentinian producer Dark Soul Project turns in an 11 minute journey here. A real driving bassline and the use of Kay-D’s original turn this remix into quite an uplifting one but yet still managing to keep it very, very deep.

Robert K Remix
Robert K (or to give him his real name, Robert Árpád Kiss) is a producer/DJ from Romania and here he provides the final remix for the package. Quite a crisp sounding beat with some extra melodies and a driving bassline, make this one an early set thumper.

02. My Dreams (Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic remix)
03. My Dreams (Domased Electronica remix)

Review of Kay-D – My Dreams EP

Kay- D also known as Krisztian Kajdi, was born in July of 1978, in Ajka, Hungary.

His interest to music started in 1986 when he went to the conservatorie for 3 years and played trumpet. In the early ’90s he started to be interested in electronic music and at that time his favourite styles were german rave, acid-house and hardcore-techno, and later trance. At the age of 16 Krisztian started to compose music. After a break in producing to attend school in environmental engineering Krisztian got back into producing in 2007, it was a turning point in Kay-D’s career, at that time he got to know the newest music composing programmes and had his first productions signed to CLS Records. His music was inspired by many styles like progressive house, breaks, tech-house, tribal, deep house and electro.

With My Dreams Kay-D has crafted a real deep progressive trance gem. Lots of sparkling melodies and great female vocal snips. It’s the tough galloping beats that really give this a deep yet still tough feel on the low end. The atmospherics in the breakdown are absolutely out of this world and when the bassline drops back in it’s pretty devastating. Label bosses Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic have really focused their mix on a lot of swirling atmospheric elements and have created a hypnotic deep trance anthem. So many sublime layers and textures to get lost in on their mix, it’s really incredible and a great journey into sound! Domased Electronica has added some additional groove to the low end and kept the amazing atmospherics and melodies for an overall epic feel. Dark Soul Project provides a very nice complement to the package. His mix starts off in typical DSP fashion with a dark and grundgy vibe but as the melodies fade in the mix takes a more melancholic almost ominous feel. It’s a very interesting and unique remix from DSP and is a testament to him as a producer. Lastly Robert K comes up with a pretty straight forward progressive trance mix with nice energy and a good pumping clubby vibe. Another Solid package from Mistique.

Track Dark & Light with VeNeS released on Mistiquemusic

Domased Electronica feat. VeNeS – Dark & Light (inc. Lacandon & VeNeS, Basil O’Glue, Hypnotic Duo, M&D Substance) (Mistiquemusic) [MIST060]

Release Date: Jun 25th, 2010
Progressive / Progressive

Tracks on this release:

01. Dark & Light (Original Mix)
02. Dark & Light (Dub Version)
03. Dark & Light (Lacandon And VeNeS HD Remix)
04. Dark & Light (Hypnotic Duo Remix)
05. Dark & Light (Basil O’Glue Remix)
06. Dark & Light (M&D Substance Remix)

Original Mix & Dub Mix:
What a way to kick off this big package with a dark, twisted original version. In typical Domased Electronica fashion, he manages to grab you within the first 2 minutes of the track, which is not something many producers can do! VeNeS has a really special voice which really gives the track an extra dimension. There is also a dub mix for those not being swayed by the vocal mix!

Lacandon & VeNeS HD Remix:
VeNeS is back with her familiar partner here on the E.P. first remix job. Lacandon & VeNeS use a throbbing, cranky bass hook and some great effects to build the foundations of the remix. The entire 8 mins of this track has a definite breakbeat feel to it, but without losing any of it’s full on progressive influences.

Hypnotic Duo Remix:
Dziastinas and Marius always seem to be on top form. And here they have hit it yet again. Their trademark industrial sound is present and they use VeNeS’ vocals to good effect. Hypnotic Duo are true to form once again with their heavy, driving bass laden productions.

Basil O’Glue Remix:
Basil uses a massive bassline to set the foundations for his remix. And his remix builds and builds on these foundations. A lovely hypnotising harmony, leads us up to a lush popping sounding melody which then transforms itself into an electro tinged breakdown. Basil has left out the vocals on this one but the melody alone is enough to stick in your head……like glue!!

M&D Substance Remix:
This seems like a more laid back remix from M&D Substance. This one uses a little less energy than the previous versions, but they make it sound incredibly good. An eerie sounding quiet part builds up into a nice laidback, melodic breakdown. Would work well in the early parts of a set I feel.
